 Map size in MV

Hey all-

According to the Wiki, a 'World' in MV is 4000km per side.

Hypothetically, this would let you map out Australia , including geosynchronous space stations in low earth orbit and underground caverns tunnelling far into the lower mantle.

!?!?!?

Seriously, is MV capable of this size of continuous world using the quad-tree?

The reason the world is so big is that the xz location on the server is stored as a long (64bit integer) with a resolution of 1mm. I do not know what would happen if you actually used all of the space. If you are using the auto generated map I dont think it would be a problem but an alpha map that big would be extremely large. You might also need to run multiple world servers to divide up that space.

Ahh, I see.

Didn't plan on using that much - just was curious Smile

Nice to have such a large contiguous space tho, even ifmultiple servers would be needed to support it.

You can also have multiple instances to make an easier divide between areas.
