New Website Live - Forums and Marketplace Still in Progress Empty
PostSubject: New Website Live - Forums and Marketplace Still in Progress   New Website Live - Forums and Marketplace Still in Progress EmptyFri 2 Nov - 2:30

All,

The new http://www.multiversemmo.com site running Joomla is now live. Head on over and register. The new Joomla system allows single sign-on for the site, the wiki, the new forums, and marketplace. It also opens the doors for many additional community features to be rolled out.

I am still working on formatting the new forums and marketplace so they aren't available yet, but you can sign up on the site now.

If anyone is a wizard with CSS and are willing to help with the formatting let me know.

Thanks,
Shane

I'd be willing to assist -- I'm not great, but I have been doing it professionally for some time, and my bosses continue to pay me. To be perfectly honest, I think the site looks really clean as it stands. The MV logo is a little blurry, but I don't think CSS can fix that. Wink

What were you looking to do?

Howdy and welcome,

We actually need help with the new Forums and Marketplace. They are not currently visible to the public since the layout and structure isn't complete yet. If you are willing I can give you access to those areas to help out. There is no sensitive info in either module yet.

Let me know,
Shane

Thanks Shane, I'd be happy to help out. Are you using a templating engine to populate the CSS, or is the CSS static?

It is a combination of both.

The core system is Joomla which is using the Gantry framework and a customized template. This is what is currently live and what you've seen

The new forums will run on Kunena and I've begun customizing a freely available template called KProSilver. It uses static CSS to format the various object tags.

The marketplace will run VirtueMart with the VMVendor plugin. Both have static CSS files to control various component look and feel.

The challenge will be identifying the particular CSS elements that need to change and getting all the various CSS in line with the primary look and feel of the site.

I will work out the method by which you can access these areas including CSS since they are currently restricted only to administrators. I can't just grant full admin writes to you since it would also give access to user logins and other Joomla type info. I'm thinking instead to open the secured menu's to your login and giving you FTP writes to the CSS files.

Sounds great. I do have some quick questions:

1. Do we have a predefined color palette to work with?

2. Are we using CSS2.1+ properties, such as `border-radius:`?

3. Would you rather setup a git repository instead of FTP, or do you prefer FTP for better Windows support?

Thanks!

Also, to see previous examples of my work, you can checkout quirler.com (a social network site) or repocms.com (an open source CMS).

I'm setting up a repository on GitHub to hold the website code. I will be uploading it shortly. The repository will be under user MultiverseMMO
