Hello everyone Empty
PostSubject: Hello everyone    Hello everyone EmptyFri 12 Apr - 11:53

My name is Mike and I am currently going to school majoring in computer information systems and am wanting to get heavy into c++/Java. I have been helping develop some private Ultima Online servers throughout the years only recently getting into C# ( lotsa fun btw)

I am wanting to check Multiverse out in hopes that I might be able to apply my current knowledge and any more that I pick up through school to the project (if its even still active?)

Currently trying to setup and get the the server running Razz I can tell this will be fun cheers

Anyways Im here and will be asking some questions for awhile if..er...when I get stuck.

welcome Mike,

i am pretty sure you will like it,
i like the java server myself is quite powerful and expandable into multiple physical hardware for load
balancing

the C# client needs a little bit of love, since it is running a dated version of the axiom rendering engine,
but after all is a direct X 9 so graphics quality can get as good as any other direct X 9 engine outhere is just matter of creating the right shaders for it.

give it a go, dont let the sampleworld demo deceive you, this is because the assets used in it are way outdated aswell as the textures,

i found out that by adding my own art work and materials textures it will look as good as any other good game engine.

feel free to post in the forums if you need help getting started..

almost forgot,

one other great feature about multiverse is the wiki, is very well documented and lots of great tutorials to learn from.

thank you very much for the welcome tichfuie!!

The wiki has LOADS of info, been reading through it for the last day and a half or so. Im currently stuck trying to get the server to fire up, but I think I might have just found the thread that will rectify that problem cheers

As for the sample world, no big deal. I see what I can do with it from the code and the current models and such. Just a matter of firing up blender and making some new models Razz

Welcome Mike! glad you joined the MV forums. As tichfuie said, you'll find a lot of info at the Wiki and here at forums.

Browse through old posts, I'm sure you'll see some answers to your setup problems.

cheers
