Just incase anyone uses photoshop CS 5-6, here is a link to the nvidia .dds exporter plugin, afik this is the only free .dds exporter for Photoshop Cool

Gimp also has one built in. And I think nvidia also has a batch converter for windows explorer select the files and convert to dds.
