So er uh..................whatjafigure a multiverse server will take there Chris?

How long is a peice of string? It would depend on how many concurrent connections/users, what level of content/data is being streamed/delivered, network activity etc.

I was wondering, for these prices, does each client of a VP have root access to install/run say Multiverse server(s)?

Multiverse is fully compatible with Vanquish VPS servers. Vanquish has donated a VPS for our demo world. We have full root access and successfully setup the demo world using Vanquish systems. We will be developing the demo world and publish details at some point in the future. The new client setup available on sourceforge automatically loads our Master server and Demo world running on Vanquish hardware.

Well there's the answer.

All we need to do now is set up a time and get a few dozen concurrent players to load test the package they donated, and see if it's not enough, enough, or more than enough.

And no........I'm not picking at anything, the fact is, I simply don't know, and want to know so I can make the appropriate choice.*grins*

We will definitely consider Vanquish...

Son had a minecraft server with Avante, cheap enough but it had significant lag.

Have a few domains hosted with DFB (old Aplus) might consider moving it all over to a VPS with Vanquish.

Prices look great.

Then we'll have a testing server too!

If it benefits "The Foundation" I'll definitely consider it.

I have nothing but good things to say about Vanquish VPS. They provide personal service and Chris from Vanquish has provided quite a bit of support to the Foundation. If you are not sure what type of server your world will require start small and work your way up. The prices are low enough to not break the bank while you are proving out your world.

Vanquish is still donating both a dedicated VPS and our website space. The demo world is not running because it began having problems and I haven't had time to sort it out. We had the New York Times square running for a few months.

No, I'm open to whatever you have. In fact we've always intended for the demo world to be a collaborative effort with the community. So its a step in the right direction

I like the collaborative idea, that way it keeps on growing and expanding the demo for everyone to take it as a reference or to make it as the community driven demo game

Tristan and I had some really great ideas for the "Demo World" That it would be a gateway into other peoples own worlds.. e.g you start in the demo world, and then you want to play a fantasy game.. travel in the demo world to a part in the woods where there is a portal, enter it and you would be connected to someones fantasy game... want to play a sci fi game that someone has created.. travel to a science building and there is a portal to take you there.. etc. etc..

There were many other things we discussed about doing all really cool...

Yes. He's been very busy with University and his own business ventures. Just as I've been very busy with family and work. Case in point why we need leaders within the community to step up and help things move forward.
